She Belongs To The Streets Isn’t Just A Meme: It’s Biblical
Future’s Iconic Quote Is Actually Rooted In Scripture
Whether or not he was aware that what he was saying was founded in scripture, Future’s now iconic “She belongs to the streets” is echoed in the Bible. Specifically in the book of Proverbs.
Now before you start typing hate comments, just hear me out. For those who may be unfamiliar with it, the book of Proverbs is a collection of wise sayings and poetry that is meant to help the reader live a fulfilling life while avoiding many of the temptations and pitfalls that we all encounter.
Proverbs 1:2–3 “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity.”
One of the main literary techniques the book uses is contrasts. For instance, it will contrast the wise and the foolish, the righteous and the wicked, the rich and the poor, the lazy and the industrious, the greedy and the generous, etc. By doing so, it is highlighting the benefits of living a certain way by contrasting it with the negative and often disastrous consequences of doing the opposite.
